'It is a lie': BJP rejects Rahul Gandhi's claim Amit Shah ordered firing at protesting students

Business To Business, New Delhi, 29th July, 2026:   The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday dismissed as a "lie" Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegation that students were shot at during their march to Parliament last week on the orders of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of attempting to spread confusion and incite anarchy for political gains.
Addressing two successive press conferences at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, party spokesperson Sambit Patra strongly refuted Gandhi's claims and criticised his remarks about Shah's security convoy.
Responding to Gandhi's assertion that the home minister travels in a convoy of 30 vehicles because he is scared, Patra said, "It is a lie. Even the prime minister's cavalcade perhaps does not have 30 cars. Rahul Gandhi, come and show me where are those 30 cars that you saw in Amit Shah's convoy."
The BJP maintained that Gandhi's allegations regarding the student protest and the home minister's security arrangements were baseless and politically motivated, while accusing the Congress leader of making misleading statements for electoral gains.
