Business To Business, Panaji, 08th July, 2026: The Goa unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday urged the state government to enhance the insurance coverage under the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) from the existing ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh, saying the move would provide greater financial protection to residents facing rising healthcare costs.
The party also called for the inclusion of more medical procedures under the flagship health insurance scheme to ensure broader access to quality healthcare for beneficiaries.
Addressing the issue, AAP leaders said the enhanced insurance cover would help families cope with the increasing cost of medical treatment and reduce their out-of-pocket expenditure during serious illnesses and medical emergencies.
The Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) is the Goa government's flagship state-sponsored health insurance programme that provides universal health coverage to residents who have lived in the state for at least five years.
Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive cashless treatment through a network of empanelled hospitals across Goa and other approved healthcare institutions.
The AAP maintained that revising the insurance limit to ₹10 lakh and expanding the list of covered procedures would strengthen the scheme, improve access to advanced medical treatment and enhance healthcare security for the people of Goa.
