Business To Business, Kolkata, 11th May 2026: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced several key administrative and policy initiatives during the state’s first BJP cabinet meeting. Notably, the state will now be inducted into the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat health scheme, joining other major central welfare programs such as PM Jan Arogya Yojna, PM Fasal Bima Yojna for crop insurance, PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) for upgrading schools, and PM Viswakarma scheme supporting artisans and craftspeople.
Additionally, the government approved the transfer of land to the BSF for border fencing and the implementation of the BNS criminal law, among other measures. The meeting was chaired by Adhikari and attended by five newly sworn-in ministers and senior bureaucrats.
