Adityanath challenges Akhilesh to support Krishna Janambhoomi’s 'liberation' movement

Business To Business, Lucknow, 28th June, 2026:   Yogi Adityanath on Sunday challenged Akhilesh Yadav to publicly support a movement for the "liberation" of the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, drawing a parallel with the Ram Janmabhoomi campaign, while responding to Yadav's recent remarks on Ayodhya.
The chief minister's comments came a day after Yadav alleged that devotees' faith had been betrayed in light of the alleged embezzlement of donations received at the Ram Mandir. Yadav had also said that if the Samajwadi Party came to power, it would develop Ayodhya into an "inimitable" sacred city.
Addressing a public meeting, Adityanath rejected Yadav's criticism and said the transformation of Ayodhya had already been achieved through the efforts of Lord Ram's devotees.
"Akhilesh ji, Lord Ram's devotees have already transformed Ayodhya. Don't worry about it. Repent. Visit Ram Lalla once, and at least that will bring you some wisdom. Now, prepare so that we can also do something for Lord Krishna," Adityanath said.
The Uttar Pradesh chief minister's remarks add to the ongoing political exchanges between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party over religious issues, temple development and governance in the state.
