Business To Business, Chennai, 07th July, 2026: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has approached the Supervisory Committee headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice (Retd.) Ajay Rastogi and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), seeking appropriate action after the Supreme Court declined to regulate Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's proposed visit to Karur.
DMK organising secretary R. S. Bharathi submitted a memorandum to the Supervisory Committee, requesting it to direct the CBI to take necessary steps, including registering a case against Minister Aadhav Arjuna.
In the memorandum, Bharathi also urged the committee to ensure adequate safeguards during the Chief Minister's proposed visit to Karur, where Vijay is scheduled to distribute monetary assistance, compassionate appointments and other forms of government support to the families of those who lost their lives or were injured in the recent stampede.
According to the DMK, the safeguards are necessary to ensure that the relief measures are carried out in a fair, transparent and legally compliant manner.
Chief Minister Vijay is scheduled to visit Karur on July 10 to meet the families of the stampede victims and extend financial assistance and other government benefits.
The developments follow the Supreme Court's decision not to intervene in or regulate the Chief Minister's proposed visit, prompting the opposition party to pursue the matter before the Supervisory Committee and the CBI.
