AIADMK MLAs resignation: Palaniswami claims TVK resorting to ''horse-trading''
Business To Business, Chennai, 25th May, 2026: Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday accused the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam of engaging in political “horse-trading” after three legislators resigned from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and joined the ruling party.
Palaniswami criticised the resignations of MLAs:
- Maragatham Kumaravel
- P. Sathyabama
- S. Jayakumar
Describing the developments at the State Secretariat, he remarked that it was a case of “resignation at the ground floor and party membership at the first floor.”
The three legislators reportedly met Assembly Speaker J. C. D. Prabhakar to submit their resignation letters and then immediately met Aadhav Arjuna at his office in the Secretariat to join the ruling party.
The episode has intensified political tensions in Tamil Nadu, with the opposition AIADMK accusing the government of attempting to weaken rival parties by attracting their elected representatives.
