AICC Gen Sec Surjewala urges media not to speculate on Karnataka CM change

Business To Business, Bengaluru, 27th May, 2026:  Randeep Singh Surjewala on Wednesday dismissed speculation about a leadership change in Karnataka, clarifying that no meeting of the Congress legislature party has been convened.
Addressing media queries, Surjewala, who is the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in charge of Karnataka, said that reports suggesting an imminent change in chief minister were baseless and urged the media to avoid speculation.
He stated that:

  • No Congress legislature party meeting has been called
  • No decision regarding leadership change has been taken
  • The party will communicate officially when any decision is made
Surjewala emphasised that the Indian National Congress is fully capable of taking its own organisational and leadership decisions and would announce them at the appropriate time.
His remarks come amid ongoing political chatter about internal dynamics within the Karnataka Congress government, but the party has publicly maintained that there is no immediate leadership transition under consideration.
