Business To Business, Itanagar, 22nd July, 2026: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress on Tuesday condemned the detention of senior party leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, during their sit-in outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in New Delhi, describing the police action as "arbitrary and illegal" and an "assault" on democracy.
Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several leaders from other opposition parties had staged a surprise protest outside the Prime Minister's residence, demanding his resignation.
The state Congress said the detention of opposition leaders while they were exercising their democratic right to protest was unacceptable and called for respect for constitutional values and democratic freedoms.
