Business To Business, Guwahati, 05th July, 2026: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said the state budget, to be presented later this week, will outline his government's economic vision for the next five years, with a strong focus on delivering the commitments made in its election manifesto.
Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah is scheduled to present the Assam Budget for the financial year on July 10. The budget session of the Assam Legislative Assembly is set to commence on Monday.
Addressing a press conference after chairing a cabinet meeting, Sarma said the budget would serve as a roadmap for the government's development agenda over the next five years.
"The budget will reflect the five-year plan, based on our election manifesto. It will be our government's economic vision for the next five years," the Chief Minister said.
He said the budget would prioritise the implementation of key electoral promises while focusing on sustained economic growth, infrastructure development, employment generation, social welfare and improved public services.
The Chief Minister indicated that the financial plan would align government spending with long-term development goals and lay the foundation for accelerating Assam's economic progress during the current term of the government.
The budget is expected to outline sector-wise allocations and policy initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive growth, strengthening infrastructure and supporting the state's broader development objectives over the next five years.
