Assam FinMin Ajanta Neog retains Golaghat, defeats Congress' Bitupan Saikia by 43,759 votes

Business To Business, Guwahati, 4th May 2026: Ajanta Neog has once again demonstrated her strong electoral hold by retaining the Golaghat seat for a remarkable sixth consecutive term.
Representing the Bharatiya Janata Party, she defeated Bitupan Saikia of the Indian National Congress by a margin of 43,759 votes. Neog secured 1,02,212 votes, while Saikia received 58,453 votes.
A prominent political figure in Assam, Neog holds the distinction of being the state’s first woman finance minister. She is also the longest-serving female legislator in Assam, having represented Golaghat continuously since 2001.
Her latest victory further cements her position as one of the most enduring and influential leaders in the state’s political landscape.
