Assam minister Pijush Hazarika wins Jagiroad seat by 93,584 votes, becomes MLA for fourth time

Business To Business, Guwahati, 4th May 2026: Pijush Hazarika of the Bharatiya Janata Party has won the Jagiroad seat, defeating the Indian National Congress candidate by a massive margin of 93,584 votes, according to the Election Commission of India.
This victory marks his third consecutive win from Jagiroad (2016, 2021, 2026) and his fourth straight term as an MLA overall. He began his electoral journey by winning the Raha seat in 2011.
The result further consolidates Hazarika’s strong political hold in the region and underlines the BJP’s continued dominance in this constituency.
