Bengal: Group of ministers begin work to bring out White Paper on ''corruption'' during TMC regime

Business To Business, Kolkata, 10th July, 2026:   The West Bengal government has initiated the process of preparing a White Paper on alleged corruption and financial mismanagement during the 15-year rule of the previous Trinamool Congress (TMC) government.
A high-powered Group of Ministers (GoM) held its first meeting at the state secretariat, Nabanna, on Thursday to review the exercise.
The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta, decided to prepare a comprehensive report documenting alleged instances of diversion, misuse and wastage of public funds, particularly those received under centrally sponsored schemes, according to official sources.
The proposed White Paper is expected to identify cases where funds sanctioned for specific schemes were allegedly:

  • Diverted for purposes other than those intended
  • Left unutilised
  • Misappropriated
To facilitate the report's preparation, all government departments have been directed to examine their records and submit relevant documents and data detailing the utilisation of public funds.
The exercise is aimed at compiling a comprehensive account of the alleged financial irregularities during the previous administration.
