Business To Business, Kolkata, 22nd July, 2026: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday blamed the previous Trinamool Congress (TMC) government for the loss of Kolkata's direct air connectivity with Europe and the state's mounting debt, while asserting that his administration would work with the Centre to modernise the state's transport infrastructure.
Speaking at a programme after flagging off 50 air-conditioned buses—43 powered by CNG and seven electric buses—Adhikari also unveiled plans to introduce a Water Metro in Kolkata, extend metro rail connectivity beyond the city, install charging infrastructure for electric buses, and develop a greenfield airport at Kalyani.
State Transport Minister Arjun Singh and Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Agarwal were present at the event.
