Bengal govt orders statewide survey of madrasas, seeks district-wise reports by July 5

Business To Business, Kolkata, 6th June, 2026:    The government of West Bengal has launched a statewide survey of madrasas to gather detailed information about their functioning, infrastructure, enrollment, management, and legal status, according to an official.
As part of the exercise, all district magistrates have been instructed to submit comprehensive reports by July 5. The survey is expected to cover both recognized and other operating madrasa institutions across the state.
Officials said the initiative aims to create an updated database of madrasas and assess their physical infrastructure, administrative arrangements, and compliance with applicable regulations. The exercise will also help authorities verify whether institutions possess the required approvals, registrations, and documentation and are operating in accordance with existing rules.
The survey is being presented as an administrative and regulatory review intended to provide the state government with a clearer picture of the madrasa education sector and identify any gaps in compliance or infrastructure that may require attention.
