Bengal industry bodies hail BJP win, seek push for investments and industrial revival

Business To Business, Kolkata, 4th May 2026:  Industry groups have welcomed the strong showing of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the West Bengal Assembly elections, expressing optimism about a renewed push for economic growth in West Bengal.
According to data from the Election Commission of India, the BJP had won 35 seats and was leading in 170 others in the 294-member Assembly as of Monday evening. The Trinamool Congress, which has governed the state since 2011, had secured 15 seats and was ahead in 67.
Business and trade bodies said they expect the incoming government to prioritise industrialisation, infrastructure development, investor-friendly policies, and stronger coordination between the Centre and the state.
Bharat Chamber of Commerce president Naresh Pachisia described the moment as a potential turning point, expressing hope for “big-ticket investments” and accelerated business development, along with improved Centre–state relations to revive Bengal’s economic momentum.
