Bengal set to implement National Health Mission, Centre sanctioned Rs 2,103 cr for scheme: Suvendu

Business To Business, Kolkata, 30th May, 2026:  Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday announced that West Bengal is set to implement the National Health Mission, adding that the Centre has sanctioned ₹2,103 crore for the scheme.
Addressing a health department programme in Kolkata, Adhikari also said that more than 1.36 crore families in the state would be covered under Ayushman Bharat.
According to the chief minister, the expansion of coverage is expected to provide access to quality healthcare support for a large section of the state's population.
The National Health Mission aims to strengthen public healthcare systems, improve access to medical services, and enhance health outcomes, while Ayushman Bharat provides financial protection for eligible families by covering hospitalization and treatment costs at empanelled healthcare facilities.
