Business To Business, Patna, 28th July, 2026: The Bihar government on Monday announced that it will withdraw all cases registered against protesters over the NEET paper leak agitation and release those jailed in connection with the demonstrations.
In a statement issued late in the evening, the state's Home Department said that "no adverse legal action – punitive/retaliatory – shall be taken by the government against any individual participating in the protests before 6 pm on 26.07.2026."
According to police, a total of 694 people were detained during the Bihar bandh called on July 25 by pro-Left students' unions. Of them, 339 minors were released, while the remaining 355 individuals were booked under relevant legal provisions and were facing trial before the concerned courts.
The government's decision paves the way for the withdrawal of those cases and the release of the accused, marking a significant step in addressing the aftermath of the statewide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
