BJP attacks NC govt over drug menace, questions 'soft approach'

Business To Business, Jammu, 9th May, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday criticised the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference government in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that it had failed to take effective action against the growing drug menace in the region.
BJP spokespersons Rajni Sethi, Ankit Gupta and Parimoksh Seth accused the NC-Congress government of adopting a “soft approach” towards drug peddlers despite being in power for the past one-and-a-half years.
Addressing reporters, Rajni Sethi questioned why the NC government was allegedly not taking a stronger stand against narcotics trafficking.
She also praised the Lieutenant Governor’s “100-day mission” against drug trafficking, calling it a commendable initiative that had received support from the police and civil society groups.
According to Sethi, no minister, MLA or senior representative from the NC government had actively supported the anti-drug campaign or publicly demanded stringent punishment for drug peddlers.
