BJP questions style of functioning of Jharkhand's Hemant Soren govt

Business To Business, Ranchi, 28th June, 2026:  Babulal Marandi on Sunday questioned the functioning of the JMM-led government, alleging that it had failed to properly utilise funds available under the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) over the past 10 years.
Addressing a press conference in West Singhbhum district, the BJP leader and former Jharkhand chief minister said the District Mineral Foundation Trust was created by the Union government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to improve the quality of life in mining-affected areas.
Marandi said the DMFT was intended to fund basic infrastructure and welfare initiatives in sectors such as healthcare, education, drinking water and road connectivity for communities impacted by mining activities.
He alleged that West Singhbhum district had received more than Rs 3,000 crore under the DMFT over the last decade, but the funds were not effectively utilised because of what he described as the indifferent approach of the state government and local public representatives.
The BJP leader claimed that better utilisation of the funds could have significantly improved infrastructure and public services in mining-affected regions of the district.
The Jharkhand government had not immediately responded to Marandi's allegations.
