BJP's Bengal win: Section of film producers demand talks on functioning of EIMPA

Business To Business, Kolkata, 5th May, 2026: A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s landslide victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, political ripples reached the Bengali film industry, with a section of producers staging a demonstration at the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association office on Tuesday, seeking changes in its functioning in light of the shift in power.
Producers and distributors—many believed to be politically aligned with or sympathetic to the BJP—submitted a letter calling for a meeting within three days to discuss the evolving situation and its potential impact on the industry.
The demand was backed by several association members, including senior producer Ratan Saha, producer-distributor Satadip Saha, director Milan Bhowmik, and producer Krishnanarayan Daga.
