BJP set for sweeping win in Bengal as TMC suffers stunning collapse

Business To Business, Kolkata, 4th May 2026:  The Bharatiya Janata Party appears set to form its first-ever government in West Bengal, marking a major political shift in the state.
According to trends from the West Bengal Assembly elections, the BJP surged past the majority mark and was racing ahead in more than 200 seats—putting it close to a two-thirds majority. The party had already secured 18 seats and was leading in another 185 constituencies as counting progressed.
In contrast, the Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, trailed significantly, with only a handful of wins and leads in fewer than 90 seats. This signals a potential end to the TMC’s 15-year rule in the state.
The early leads quickly turned into a sweeping trend, indicating a major electoral upheaval that could reshape West Bengal’s political landscape. However, the final outcome will be confirmed once counting concludes and all results are officially declared.
