Business To Business, New Delhi, 22nd June, 2026: A unique attraction at the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest site at Jantar Mantar is a free library created by student activists, who say that promoting literacy and learning is central to the struggle for a better education system.
According to protesters, around 100 books have been contributed by students, supporters, and fellow activists from their personal collections to establish the library.
The initiative was organized by the All India Students' Federation (AISF) unit of University of Delhi.
Explaining the idea, AISF member Devang Aniket said the library was part of the group's "Fight for Education with Education" campaign.
The organizers said the library is intended to encourage reading, discussion, and intellectual engagement among protesters while highlighting the importance of education as a public issue. Participants described it as a symbol of the movement's emphasis on learning and awareness rather than only demonstrations and slogans.
The collection reportedly includes books spanning literature, politics, history, social sciences, and contemporary issues, allowing visitors to read and borrow material while participating in the protest.
Student leaders involved in the initiative argued that meaningful reforms in education require not only policy changes but also a broader culture of reading, critical thinking, and public engagement.
