Buoyed by Datia bypoll victory, Congress plans to corner BJP govt in MP over local issues

Business To Business Bhopal, 06 August, 2026:   Buoyed by its victory in the Datia Assembly bypoll, the Indian National Congress has decided to sharpen its focus on local issues as part of its strategy to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, according to party sources.
The sources said the party plans to:

  • Centre its campaign on local governance and state-specific issues.
  • Intensify its political response to the government's actions against Jitu Patwari.
  • Organise a major protest in Indore, which may be attended by Rahul Gandhi.
The proposed protest and the renewed focus on grassroots issues are part of the Congress' broader effort to build momentum following its bypoll success. However, the party has not officially announced the date of the protest or confirmed Rahul Gandhi's participation.
