Calcutta HC refuses TMC's Mamata faction interim nod to operate 3 bank accounts frozen by ED

Business To Business, Kolkata, 21st July, 2026:   The Calcutta High Court on Monday declined to grant interim relief to the Mamata Banerjee-led faction of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), refusing its request to operate three party bank accounts that were frozen by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The ED had frozen the three bank accounts, which together held balances of Rs 440.42 crore, as part of a money laundering investigation stemming from a West Bengal Police FIR alleging dishonest financial transactions, unlawful collection of funds, and the routing of suspected money through certain party accounts.
Justice Krishna Rao had reserved the interim order on July 13 after hearing detailed arguments from both sides. The court on Monday declined to stay the ED's action at the interim stage.
