CM Suvendu Adhikari sets Falta-style landslide victory target in Nandigram bypoll

Business To Business, Kolkata, 25th May, 2026:  Riding on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s strong performance in the Falta Assembly constituency re-poll, Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday set an ambitious target for the upcoming bypoll in Nandigram.
During his first visit to Nandigram as chief minister, Adhikari reassured supporters that although he had resigned from the constituency after choosing to retain the Bhabanipur seat, his political roots remained firmly connected to Nandigram, where he previously served three terms as MLA.
Addressing a large felicitation rally, he asked party workers and supporters whether they could replicate in Nandigram a victory margin similar to Falta, where the BJP secured a win by more than one lakh votes.
The remarks underline the BJP’s attempt to consolidate political momentum in West Bengal following:

  • Its major victory in the Falta re-poll
  • The decline of the All India Trinamool Congress in several constituencies
  • Ongoing political realignments after the Assembly elections
Nandigram remains one of the most politically symbolic constituencies in the state, having played a major role in West Bengal’s political transformations over the past two decades.
