Business To Business, Kolkata, 15th May 2026: Suvendu Adhikari on Friday hinted at the possibility of a future delimitation exercise in West Bengal, suggesting that the number of assembly constituencies in the state could increase and necessitate the construction of a new legislative assembly building.
Adhikari made the remarks in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly after the election of Rathindra Bose as Speaker.
Addressing the House, the chief minister said the assembly’s infrastructure might require major expansion and modernisation in the coming years to accommodate possible changes in representation.
The comments come amid broader national discussions around delimitation, a constitutional process involving the redrawing of electoral constituency boundaries based on population changes.
