Congress seeks repoll in seats where margin in less than votes deleted in SIR

Business To Business, New Delhi, 6th May, 2026: The Indian National Congress on Wednesday demanded a repoll in 50 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, claiming that victory margins in those seats were lower than the number of votes deleted during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The party also urged the Supreme Court of India to intervene.
Congress leader Pawan Khera alleged large-scale electoral manipulation in West Bengal and Assam, and said fresh polling should be conducted in affected constituencies after restoring voting rights.
Launching a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, Khera claimed that electoral rolls were being “deliberately manipulated” and democratic institutions “compromised” to engineer favourable outcomes.
