CPI(M) Politburo reviews poll outcome, flags BJP's attempts to 'break' Oppn parties

Business To Business, New Delhi, 27th June, 2026:   The Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has finalised key documents for discussion at the party's upcoming Central Committee meeting, including an assessment of the political situation following the recent Assembly elections and a rectification document focusing on what it termed "parliamentary opportunism and parliamentary deviation."
Addressing reporters on Saturday, CPI(M) general secretary M. A. Baby said the Politburo meeting, held on June 26 and 27, also reviewed the party's response to the current political environment.
According to Baby, the Politburo discussed what the CPI(M) described as attempts by the ruling BJP to weaken opposition parties through defections and splits. He said the Left party would launch a political campaign on the issue and hold consultations with other opposition parties, including constituents of the INDIA bloc, to formulate a coordinated response.
The Central Committee meeting, scheduled to be held from July 11 to July 13, will consider the political assessment, the rectification document and other policy papers, including one focusing on the party's work in Adivasi areas.
Baby said the discussions are aimed at strengthening the party's organisational functioning and political strategy in the wake of recent electoral developments and evolving national political circumstances.
