Business To Business, Mumbai, 12 September 2025: On Friday, former Mumbai police commissioner Julio Ribeiro lauded IPS officer Anjana Krishna for her resolve in standing her ground when Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reprimanded her for taking action against illegal soil excavation.
Ribeiro, aged 96, who has also held the esteemed position of Director General of Punjab Police, made these remarks at the launch of the book "The Brahmastra Unleashed", authored by D Sivanandhan, a distinguished former Maharashtra DGP and Mumbai police commissioner.
Expressing his admiration, Ribeiro stated, “I was very pleased to read recently about a young woman... she had been astute enough to record the attempt by a deputy chief minister to coerce her into compliance,” though he refrained from explicitly naming either Pawar or Krishna.
