Fresh complaint filed against Abhishek Banerjee in Diamond Harbour over 2020 attack case

Business To Business, Kolkata, 13 August 2026:  Another police complaint has been filed against Diamond Harbour Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Abhijit Das alias Bobby has filed this written complaint at the Diamond Harbour police station.

Along with Abhishek Banerjee, a total of 79 people, including his executive assistant Sumit Roy, have been named in the complaint.

The BJP leader claimed that on October 6, 2020, an attack took place in Diamond Harbour of South 24 Parganas district, focusing on the BJP's political programme.

In that incident, an attempt was made to fatally attack the West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya and his car was vandalised.

At the same time, Abhijit Das alleged that several BJP workers and supporters were also injured in the attack.

Nearly six years after that incident, a new complaint was filed at the Diamond Harbour police station on Thursday.

BJP leader Abhijit Das alleged that despite a police investigation after the incident, proper action was not taken against the accused.

He also questioned the role of the police at that time.

He claimed that the investigation did not progress in the right direction due to political influence.

The BJP leader also alleged that justice has not been done to the victims of the incident even after a long time. Therefore, after the BJP government came to power in the state, Abhijit Das has brought the old incident to the fore and filed a new written complaint.

Abhijit Das said, "While we were going to a political programme, our (State BJP President) Samik Bhattacharya's car was attacked and vandalised. Several BJP workers and supporters were injured in that incident. The incident cannot be seen just as a political clash. It is also necessary to investigate whether there was a larger conspiracy behind it. Therefore, I have filed a complaint against a total of 79 people, including Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee and his close aide Sumit Roy."

After filing the complaint, the BJP leader demanded an impartial investigation from the police.

Abhijit Das said, "The incident should be investigated without any political pressure and the role of those named in the complaint should be investigated."

He also demanded that necessary action be taken as per the law if the investigation proves the truth of the complaint.

The BJP leader has already filed several police complaints against Abhishek Banerjee in Diamond Harbour, alleging corruption and irregularities over the MP's medical camp 'Sebaashray'.
