Business To Business, New Delhi, 23rd May, 2026: Indian National Congress on Saturday accused the Centre of burdening ordinary citizens through a post-election fuel price hike while allegedly failing to pass on the benefits of lower global crude oil prices over the past decade.
Addressing a press conference, Rajeev Gowda questioned the government’s policies on fuel pricing, oil imports, inflation, and strategic petroleum reserves. He alleged that despite fluctuations and declines in international crude prices in recent years, consumers had not received proportional relief.
Gowda remarked that “there is a race going on between fuel and the rupee as to which will hit the century first,” referring to rising fuel costs and concerns over the value of the Indian currency.
He was accompanied at the press conference by Dolly Sharma.
