Business To Business, New Delhi, 30th May, 2026: Rahul Gandhi on Saturday criticised the Central government over the economic challenges faced by autorickshaw drivers, alleging that rising inflation and stagnant incomes have severely affected their livelihoods.
In a post on X, Gandhi shared a video of his interaction with autorickshaw drivers and said that their concerns reflected the struggles of millions of economically vulnerable people across the country.
Quoting one driver's remarks, Gandhi wrote that the sentiment, "We have been ruined and there is no one to listen," captured the difficulties faced by many poor families.
The Congress leader said the "income meter" of autorickshaw drivers had effectively stopped moving while the "brakes on inflation" had failed, accusing the government of being unresponsive to the hardships faced by ordinary citizens.
Gandhi's comments are part of the Indian National Congress's broader criticism of the government on issues such as inflation, employment, and the cost of living. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has maintained that its economic and welfare policies are aimed at supporting growth and improving living standards.
