Business Aajkal, New Delhi, 17 June 2025: The Congress has sharply criticized the Centre, asserting that the economic situation of ordinary Indians is "very worrying." On Tuesday, Congress general secretary in-charge of communications, Jairam Ramesh, highlighted a media report indicating that despite rising incomes and controlled inflation, household savings have declined for the third consecutive year.
Ramesh pointed out that while people's incomes are seemingly increasing, their savings are shrinking, and debt levels are rising. He emphasized that this trend suggests a troubling scenario where inflation continues to climb, incomes are not keeping pace, and individuals are either depleting their savings or resorting to loans to meet their needs. Ramesh shared these observations in a post in Hindi on X (formerly Twitter), criticizing the Modi government’s claims of 'acche din' (good days).
