Business To Business, Patna, 02nd July, 2026: The Jan Suraaj Party on Thursday said it will announce its candidate for the Bankipur Assembly by-election on July 5, while keeping suspense over whether the party's founder, Prashant Kishor, will contest the seat himself.
The bypoll was necessitated after BJP national president Nitin Nabin resigned as the Bankipur MLA following his election to the Rajya Sabha.
Earlier in the day, the Election Commission announced the schedule for the by-election. The notification will be issued on July 6, nominations can be filed until July 13, polling will be held on July 30, and the counting of votes is scheduled for August 3.
The Jan Suraaj Party's announcement has fuelled speculation over Kishor's possible electoral debut, although the party has not yet disclosed the identity of its candidate.
