Jharkhand CPI(ML) MLAs to cast votes for INDIA bloc in RS polls
Business To Business, Ranchi, 14th June, 2026: Dipankar Bhattacharya on Sunday announced that both MLAs of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation will vote in favour of the INDIA bloc candidates in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand scheduled for June 18.
Bhattacharya also alleged that the BJP's strategy of backing an Independent candidate would not succeed, claiming that the move was a political ploy that would be defeated during the election.
Three candidates are in the fray for two Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand:
- Baidyanath Ram, nominated by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
- Pranav Jha, fielded by the Indian National Congress.
- Parimal Nathwani, contesting as an Independent with support from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The announcement by CPI(ML) Liberation is significant because, in closely contested Rajya Sabha elections, support from smaller parties and independent legislators can influence the outcome. By backing the INDIA bloc, the party has signaled its support for the ruling alliance in Jharkhand, led by the JMM and Congress.
The Rajya Sabha election will determine which two of the three candidates secure seats in the Upper House of Parliament from Jharkhand.
