Kalyan Banerjee leaves TMC rally after ‘long’ speech amid reports of exchange with Mamata

Business To Business, Kolkata, 22nd July, 2026:   Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee left the party's Martyrs' Day rally soon after delivering a nearly 23-minute speech on Tuesday, amid reports of a verbal exchange with party supremo Mamata Banerjee over exceeding his allotted speaking time.
Kalyan Banerjee, however, denied any altercation with the party leadership, saying he left the venue because of prior engagements.
According to sources in the Mamata Banerjee camp, the rally near the Birla Planetarium had an unusually long list of speakers, and all leaders had been asked to keep their addresses brief to accommodate everyone. Despite this, Kalyan Banerjee spoke for nearly 23 minutes, launching a sharp attack on the BJP as well as the breakaway Trinamool faction led by Leader of Opposition Ritabrata Banerjee.
