Kapil Sibal contributes Rs 1 cr to CJP to bolster legal aid to students booked over agitation

Business To Business, New Delhi, 28th July, 2026:   Senior advocate Kapil Sibal on Monday announced a contribution of Rs 1 crore to a fund established by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to provide legal assistance to protesters arrested during the recent agitation in Delhi.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said there were credible apprehensions that criminal cases could still be filed against students across the country despite the Centre's assurance that no legal action would be taken against peaceful protesters.
Das said the organisation was coordinating with the senior Supreme Court lawyer to ensure legal support for students who have been booked by the police in connection with the protests.
The fund is intended to assist those facing legal proceedings arising from the agitation, with the CJP stating that it aims to provide legal representation to affected students if cases are pursued.
