Modi govt integrating poverty alleviation schemes with tech: Amit Shah

Business To Business, New Delhi, 28th May, 2026:   Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday welcomed the second phase of the SARTHAK-PDS scheme, saying it reflects the government’s push to integrate welfare delivery with technology for greater transparency and efficiency.
Shah said the Union Cabinet has approved ₹25,530 crore for SARTHAK-PDS Phase-2, aimed at strengthening the public distribution system under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a post on X, he highlighted that the scheme will use advanced digital tools such as AI-enabled beneficiary registry creation, GPS tracking, and QR code tagging to improve monitoring and ensure delivery of subsidised foodgrains to eligible beneficiaries.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernise India’s welfare infrastructure and reduce leakages in schemes under the public distribution system.
