Modi govt powered Goa's development across sectors over 12 years: CM Sawant

Business To Business, Panaji, 12th June, 2026:    Pramod Sawant on Friday credited the government led by Narendra Modi for contributing significantly to the overall development of Goa over the past 12 years.
Speaking to reporters in Panaji, Sawant said the BJP-led central government had played a major role in strengthening infrastructure and supporting growth across various sectors in the coastal state.
Highlighting infrastructure achievements since 2014, the Chief Minister said:

  • 299 kilometres of National Highways have been constructed in Goa.
  • Around ₹999 crore has been invested in a port connectivity initiative in Vasco da Gama.
According to Sawant, these projects have improved connectivity and supported economic activity in the state.
The Chief Minister stated that central government initiatives have benefited multiple sectors, including:
  • Tourism.
  • Transportation.
  • Port and logistics infrastructure.
  • Urban development.
  • Public services.
He said these investments have helped strengthen Goa's growth trajectory and improve connectivity within the state and with the rest of the country.
As one of India's leading tourism destinations and an important maritime state, Goa has seen increasing emphasis on infrastructure upgrades aimed at:
  • Enhancing tourist access.
  • Supporting trade and logistics.
  • Improving road connectivity.
  • Facilitating economic development.
Sawant's remarks came as BJP leaders across the country highlighted achievements of the Modi government after 12 years in office. He argued that central investments and policy support have contributed substantially to Goa's development and infrastructure expansion during this period.
The Chief Minister maintained that continued cooperation between the Centre and the state would further accelerate Goa's economic and infrastructure growth in the coming years.
