Modi's leadership drove India and Assam's development journey: Himanta
Business To Business, Guwahati, 10th June, 2026: Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday congratulated Narendra Modi for becoming India's longest continuously serving prime minister, describing his leadership as transformative for both the country and Assam.
Congratulatory Letter
According to reports, Sarma sent a five-page letter to the Prime Minister conveying what he described as the gratitude, affection, and respect of the people of Assam.
In the letter, the chief minister said Modi's leadership over the past 12 years had:

Modi completed
12 years as Prime Minister on May 26 and on Wednesday surpassed the record of
Jawaharlal Nehru for the longest continuous tenure by an elected prime minister.
The milestone marks
4,399 consecutive days in office, exceeding Nehru's uninterrupted tenure of 4,398 days.
Sarma has frequently credited the Modi government with supporting development projects in Assam, including:
- Expansion of transport and connectivity infrastructure.
- Investments in energy and industry.
- Greater focus on the Northeast region.
- Social welfare and development initiatives.
In his message, he reportedly linked Assam's recent progress to broader national policies pursued during Modi's tenure.
The congratulations from Sarma come amid celebrations by the
