MP: Hustings heat up in Datia as polling day draws close

Business To Business, Datia, 27th July, 2026:    The BJP and the Congress have stepped up campaigning in Madhya Pradesh's Datia Assembly constituency as the July 30 bypoll enters its final phase, with both parties deploying senior leaders to woo voters.
The BJP has fielded Ashutosh Tiwari, whose nomination reportedly triggered discontent among supporters of former state Home Minister Narottam Mishra. He is contesting against Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh, a member of the local royal family.
The ruling BJP has centred its campaign on the state's development agenda, highlighting infrastructure and welfare initiatives.
The Congress, meanwhile, has focused on issues affecting farmers and backward communities, including crop losses, an alleged shortage of fertilisers, and what it describes as growing discontent among the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) over the alleged non-implementation of the full 27 per cent reservation.
The bypoll, scheduled for July 30, is being closely watched, with both parties making an intensive push in the closing days of the campaign.
