No question of withdrawing anti-sacrilege law: Punjab CM Mann

Business To Business, Chandigarh, 9th May, 2026: Bhagwant Mann on Saturday asserted that the anti-sacrilege law introduced by the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab would neither be withdrawn nor diluted, claiming that it had received overwhelming support from the “Sangat” worldwide.
Mann said the Punjab government remained fully committed to safeguarding the sanctity and respect of Guru Granth Sahib and all other religious scriptures.
The Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026 was unanimously passed by the Punjab Assembly on April 13.
The legislation provides for stricter punishment, including life imprisonment, for acts of sacrilege involving the Guru Granth Sahib.
