Only Marathi compulsory in Maharashtra, no other language: CM Fadnavis

Business To Business, Pune, 02 January, 2026: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that Marathi is the only mandatory language in Maharashtra, and no other language will be enforced.
 
During his speech at the inauguration of the 99th Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (All-India Marathi literary meet) in Satara, he also remarked that it is inappropriate to reject other Indian languages while welcoming foreign languages like French and Spanish.
