People of Assam will vote against polarisation, intimidation: Cong's Kanhaiya Kumar

Business To Business, Guwahati, 05 April 2026:  Kanhaiya Kumar on Sunday said that the people of Assam will reject what he described as politics of “polarisation and intimidation” and vote to remove the government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking at a rally in Bongaigaon in support of Congress candidate Girish Baruah, Kumar claimed that voters in the constituency are ready for a political shift. He also targeted the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a BJP ally, saying its long-standing hold in the area could come to an end.
Kumar criticised certain political practices, alleging that some leaders try to influence voters through:

  • Monetary inducements
  • Intimidation
  • Religious polarisation
  • Social media-driven optics
He argued that such strategies would not succeed this time, expressing confidence that voters would prioritise governance and accountability in the elections.
