PM Modi's 'extreme moral cowardice' for standing as Israel's strongest supporter: Cong

Business To Business, New Delhi, 29th May, 2026:    The Indian National Congress on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of showing “extreme moral cowardice” over his position on Israel and said his stance amounted to a “betrayal” of India’s traditional principles and was unacceptable to many Indians.
The remarks came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly said at a conference in the West Bank that Israel faced delegitimisation globally except in India.
In a post on X, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that Modi had not condemned the assassination of Iran’s head of state, the ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza Strip, or the displacement of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
The comments reflect continuing political debate in India over the government’s diplomatic positioning amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
