Business To Business, Kolkata, 20th June, 2026: Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the "double-engine government" in West Bengal has begun working at a "superfast speed" to place the state on a path of recovery and development.
Speaking at the Paschimbanga Divas (West Bengal Day) celebrations in Tarakeswar, Modi highlighted a series of development initiatives and infrastructure projects launched during his visit.
A major highlight of the event was the release of the 23rd instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme, under which ₹18,880 crore was transferred to more than 9.44 crore farmers across the country. The scheme provides direct income support to eligible farming households.
The prime minister said that coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state government would accelerate development, improve public services, and create new opportunities for the people of Bengal.
The function was attended by R. N. Ravi, Suvendu Adhikari, ministers, legislators, government officials, and members of the public.
During the programme, Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure, connectivity, agriculture, and economic growth in the state. He expressed confidence that these initiatives would contribute to West Bengal's long-term development and prosperity.
