PM writes to Suvendu, assures all support to accelerate Bengal's development

Business To Business, Kolkata, 21st June, 2026:  Narendra Modi on Saturday assured that the central government would extend all possible support to the development of West Bengal and said that nearly ₹40,000 crore had already been released to accelerate projects that had previously been stalled.
In a letter addressed to Suvendu Adhikari on the occasion of Paschimbanga Divas (West Bengal Day), Modi urged the state government to formulate short-term, medium-term, and long-term development goals.
The prime minister stated that the Centre remained committed to partnering with the state government to advance infrastructure, public welfare, and economic development initiatives.
"The central government will support the state in all ways possible. Almost ₹40,000 crore has been released to accelerate development works that were previously blocked, including the Jal Jeevan Mission and works relating to infrastructure," Modi said.
The funds, according to the prime minister, are intended to help expedite projects related to drinking water supply, connectivity, and other infrastructure sectors. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state to ensure sustained growth and improved public services.
The message formed part of the broader celebrations of West Bengal Day, during which Modi highlighted the state's development prospects and reiterated the Union government's commitment to supporting its progress.
