Provide adequate, timely compensation: Kharge to Delhi govt on Malviya Nagar fire
Business To Business, New Delhi, 3rd June, 2026: Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday expressed grief over the deadly fire at the Lemon Green Restaurant in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar and extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
Reacting to the tragedy, Kharge urged the Delhi government and relevant authorities to ensure:
- Adequate compensation for the victims' families.
- Prompt and comprehensive medical treatment for those injured.
- All necessary assistance for affected families.
According to officials,
at least 21 people were killed when a massive fire engulfed the restaurant on Wednesday. The blaze prompted a major emergency response from the Delhi Fire Service and other rescue agencies.
Fire officials said that
three people were rescued from the basement of the restaurant during the operation. Several others sustained injuries and were shifted to hospitals for treatment.
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially established. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident, including whether fire safety norms were being followed and what factors contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze.
