Quota politics: Mahayuti govt weakening Maharashtra's social fabric, says Pawar

Business To Business, Nashik, 14 September 2025: Amidst mounting tensions over the Government Resolution (GR) concerning the Hyderabad gazette, which threatened to incite conflict between the Maratha and Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities, NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar on Sunday accused the Mahayuti government of eroding the social cohesion.

Addressing a party assembly in Nashik, Pawar asserted that the administration was deliberately attempting to deepen societal divisions and urged the NCP (SP) ranks to actively oppose such efforts.

The senior statesman's remarks come at a time when numerous OBC, Adivasi, and Banjara community organizations have issued warnings of protests, demanding the government rescind the Maratha quota GR issued in response to activist Manoj Jarange's agitation.
