Rebel SAD MLA Ayali questions AAP govt over whereabouts of 3 convicted cops in Khalra case
Business To Business, Chandigarh, 03 August, 2026: Rebel Manpreet Singh Ayali on Monday raised the issue of Jaswant Singh Khalra in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, questioning the Aam Aadmi Party government about the whereabouts of three former police personnel convicted in Khalra's abduction and murder case.
During Zero Hour on the opening day of the Assembly's Monsoon Session, Ayali:
- Referred to actor Diljit Dosanjh's film Satluj, which is based on Khalra's life.
- Alleged that the film's screening had been stopped by the Central government.
Speaking about Punjab's militancy period, Ayali alleged that:
- Thousands of young people were killed in fake police encounters.
- Their bodies were allegedly cremated as unclaimed.
Jaswant Singh Khalra was known for documenting allegations of illegal cremations during the militancy era in Punjab. His disappearance in 1995 and subsequent murder led to the conviction of several police personnel in a case that remains a significant chapter in discussions on human rights and accountability in the state.
